TRANSFER PARENT & FAMILY ORIENTATION

Description and Purpose

Parents and families play an integral role in the successful transition of their son and/or daughter to a four year college/university.  Although you are familiar with your student’s current college, transferring to Wayne State University (WSU), a major urban research institution is quite different than the community college experience.   We want to make sure that parents and family are prepared for the upcoming transition and changes in their students' life. The WSU Parent & Family Transfer Orientation program will help parents create realistic expectations and provide significant information.

You will begin with your student(s) in a general session then parents and families will split up and attend a different orientation specifically designed for you. Then you will meet up with your student at the end of the day.  Make sure you attend the same day as your student.  Click on the Student Transfer Orientation link to make sure your student has registered and is attending on the designated date assigned to their major.

Timeline for Orientation Information (you only need to attend one orientation the same day as your student—check with your student to confirm date and time they are scheduled to attend.)

All orientations are held in General Lectures 100 on the WSU campus at Anthony Wayne Drive and Warren Ave. Here's a link of the campus map to assist you http://maps.wayne.edu/
