The W Food Pantry and Thrift Shop Coordinator job description

Team: Student Care, Support and Intervention
Reports to: Coordinator of Student Basic Needs, The W Food Pantry and Thrift Shop

Purpose of the position

The purpose of this role is to expose students to one of the growing challenges within higher education. Food insecurity impacts college students at an alarming rate. In this environment you will learn leadership skills through exposure to this challenge, you will be a part of a team and will mentor and be mentored. 

Responsibilities and duties

  • Administer daily operations of The W Food Pantry.
  • Duties include promoting usage of The W Food pantry, coordinating food orders, coordinating campus food collection drives, coordinating volunteer schedule, coordinating food inventory, coordinating pantry cleaning.
  • Participate in meetings with possible and ongoing funders and donors to The W Food Pantry.
  • Conduct data analysis and assessment of The W Food Pantry usage.
  • Educate the WSU and greater campus community about food insecurities of today’s college student.
  • Coordinate on-campus services provided by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Supervise student assistant project coordinator and advise student leadership team.
  • Participate in FestiFall, WinterFest, SpringFest.
  • Other duties as assigned. Some weekends and evenings required.
  • Help promote a community feel within the W Food Pantry and Thrift Shop.

  • Enrolled Wayne State student
  • Available to work 20 hours/week
